For example soft mutations are used when the feminine noun is preceded by the definite or when an adjective follows a feminine noun. Nasal and aspirate mutations occur most frequently after fy (my) and ei (her) respectively. Gender of nouns in Welsh are either masculine or feminine. There is no it and there are no indefinite articles. The plurals can be formed in different ways.

The Welsh numeral system is rather complicated. For example the basic counting unit is twenty or ugain. Thus forty is deugain (two twenties) and sixty is trigain (three twenties). Hundred is cant, fourteen is pedwar ar ddeg (four on ten), sixteen is un ar bymtheg (one on fifteen) and eighteen is deunaw (two nines). Prepositions in Welsh are conjugated. The general order of sentences in Welsh is verb, subject, object and indirect object. Most often the adjective is placed after the noun.
